Melting Light - Schmelzendes Licht

Still a bit ice in the air we found during a walk in the north of Bremen, but there was a touch of spring as well. For this painting/drawing (Some artists call it drawing, some painting.) I got out my pastels and was surprised how big my choice of colours is, thank to Ulla and Angela.

Noch ein bisschen Eis in der Luft fanden wir während eines Spaziergangs im Norden von Bremen, aber es gab außerdem schon eine Spur von Frühling dazu. Für dieses Gemälde/ diese Zeichnung (Manche Künstler nennen es Zeichnung, manche Gemälde.) holte ich meine Pastellkreiden hervor und war ganz erstaunt, wie groß meine Auswahl an Farben ist, dank Ulla und Angela.

Parsnip - Pastinake

I got to know this winter vegetable in Britain years ago and I didn't like it at all. Now it has come up in Germany again and I like it. Unhappily its season is over soon.

Ich habe dieses Gemüse vor Jahren in Großbritannien kennengelernt und ich mochte es überhaupt nicht. Nun kommt es auch wieder in Deutschland auf und ich mag es. Leider ist seine Saison bald um.

Gabriele's Hamme - Gabrieles Hamme

One more and last winter painting from the Monday painters. This time it's Gabriele's turn: She choose another river nearby called Hamme. It must have been a very mauve freezing end of the day.

Ein weiteres und letztes Winterbild der Montagsmaler. Dieses Mal ist Gabriele an der Reihe: Sie wählte einen weiteren Fluss in der Nähe, namens Hamme. Es muss ein sehr malvenfarbenes frostiges Ende des Tages gewesen sein.

The river Wümme is near Bremen and even icy a good subject for thumbnails, isn't it? Ok, we are all happy that there isn't any ice left.

Der Fluss Wümme is nahe Bremen und sogar vereist ein gutes Objekt für Thumbnails, nicht wahr? Gut, gut, wir sind alle froh, dass kein Eis mehr übrig ist.

Fromage Frais Balls - Quarkbällchen

Perhaps this is a typical German kind of cake. It's made of dough with fromage frais so that it is fluffy and you could the impression that it is not that rich. But they are fried in oil. After that the balls are put in sugar. They are delicious with coffee or tea.

Ich denke, für die Norddeutschen muss ich nichts erklären, aber gibt es diese Bällchen auch in Süddeutschland?
