I'd finished the studio before my husband passed away in October, but life still feels like being a building site. For this reason this post is perhaps a good start for the time after his death, the terrible christmas and the calming New Year's Eve.
It's a new year now and I try to go back to work. Without anybody telling you what to do you have to raise the power to move yourself next to go through all the papers and to manage this very strange new life you haven't chosen yourself.
The grey you see on the wall (not on the ceiling) is actually just ONE grey, just hit by different lights, the natural one from outside and the artificial light from the ceiling. At the top it's still wet and on the left it's already dry. However, it's the light that makes the difference. As most artists prefer to paint in daylight, it's necessary to choose the paint for the walls at daytime. Take your time, try light and dark tones!
Ich hatte das Atelier fertig, bevor mein Mann im Oktober starb, aber das Leben fühlt sich immer noch an wie eine Baustelle. Deshalb ist dies vielleicht ein guter Anfang für die Zeit nach seinem Tod, dem schrecklichen Weihnachten und dem beruhigenden Silvester.
Jetzt habne wir ein neues Jahr und ich versuche wieder zur Arbeit zu finden. Ohne jemanden, der dir sagt, was zu tun ist, muss man selbst die Kraft aufbringen, neben dem Durchsehen der Papiere und dem Managen des sehr merkwürdigen Lebens, das ich mir nicht ausgesucht habe.
Das Grau, das ihr auf der Wand seht (nicht an der Decke), ist tatsächlich nur EIN Grau, das nur von zwei verschiedenen Lichtquellen getroffen wird, dem natürlichen von draußen und dem künstlichen von der Decke. Oben ist es noch feucht und auf der linken Seiten ist es schon trocken. Trotzdem ist es das Licht, das den Unterschied macht. Weil die meisten Künstler Tageslicht zum Malen bevorzugen, ist es nötig die Wandfarbe am Tag auszusuchen. Nehmt euch Zeit, versucht helle und dunkle Töne!

Don't go too dark with the paint as when it is on all the walls it could make the room quite dark. You need light and with light the soul feels lighter too!
