Hom(m)age (in Progress?)

This is a new painting for which I haven't had much reference. Maybe you remember my story from the Albertinum in Dresden. The staff of this fine gallery got very nervous when I got out my watercolors though my little paintbox was always visible. Before the small watercolor I had done a quick sketch of the view into the next room with a pencil. That was it! But from that day I had this work in mind, found out about the other two paintings and started. Up to now it's acrylics, but I'm not sure if I should continue or if I should do it with oil. Any ideas?

Dies ist ein neues Gemälde, für das ich wenig Referrenzen hatte. Vielleicht erinnert ihr euch an meine Geschichte aus dem Albertinum in Dresden. Die Belegschaft der schönen Sammlung wurde ganz nervös, als ich meine Aquarellfarben herausholte, obwohl mein Malkasten immer zu sehen war. Vor dem kleinen Aquarell hatte ich eine kleine Bleistiftskizze des Blicks in den nächsten Raum gemacht. Das war alles! Allerdings hatte ich seitdem immer diese Arbeit im Kopf, suchte die anderen beiden Werke heraus und begann. Bis jetzt habe ich in Acryl gemalt, aber ich bin ich nicht sicher, ob ich überhaupt oder mit Öl weitermalen soll. Hat jemand einen Vorschlag?

At the Albertinum - Im Albertinum

Oh yes, the Albertinum in Dresden has got a wonderful collection of paintings of new masters (from the Romantic period to today (Gerhard Richter)) and the staff is very nice and helpful, however, it seems very easy to confuse it O;-) : I certainly had things for sketching and some watercolors with me, but I wasn't allowed to take my bag with me in. So, I tried to keep the balance with all equipment on my arms - wasn't successful. My watercolor box crashed down on the floor. Just a guide came by smiling and everyone was awake - also the paintings. Then I found a nice place near this tiny painting by Caspar David Friedrich "Gate to Meissen" just did some sketches with a pencil. Some more guides passed me, probably just curious because it was a too fine day for a museum.
Then I got out my watercolors. More guides passed by, but none of them talked to me. Perhaps I became more and more a funny artist just painting a white wall instead of one of the famous paintings for them. Anyway, I went on painting and thinking who had had the idea to put this wonderful small dark painting on such a white, white and white wall. The little ray of light was just swallowed by the white and I felt free to exaggerate it O:-)
Suddenly, a guide (probably the boss of all the others) asked me if I knew about the rules for painting in the Albertinum (not to paint wetly). I told him the guide at the cloakroom had allowed me to bring all my things. He wanted to know if my paints were just watercolors. I confirmed getting more and more amused because I sat about 6-7 metres from the next painting. In the end he let me paint on and left. So, I guess this will be the only watercolor painting painted in the Albertinum for years.

Oh ja, das Albertinum in Dresden hat eine wundervolle Sammlung von Gemälden Neuer Meister (von der Romantik bis heute (Gerhard Richter)) und das Personal ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit, ist jedoch sehr einfach durcheinander zu bringen. O;-) : Natürlich hatte ich Dinge zum Skizzieren und Aquarellfarben dabei, aber ich durfte meine Tasche nicht mit hinein nehmen. Also versuchte ich das ganze Equipment auf meinen Armen zu balancieren - war allerdings nichts erfolgreich. Mein Aquarellkasten fiel scheppernd auf den Pakettboden. Nur ein Herr in blauer Uniform kam vorbei und lächelte und alles war wach - auch die Bilder. Dann fand ich einen netten Platz in der Nähe diese winzigen Gemäldes von Caspar David Friedrich "Toreingang in Meißen", machte einige Bleistiftskizzen. Weiteres Museumspersonal ging vorbei, wahrscheinlich nur aus Neugier, denn der Tag war zu schön für ein Museum.
Anschließend öffnete ich meinen Aquarellkasten. Noch mehr Herren und Damen in Blau passierten mich, aber niemand sagte etwas. Vielleicht wurde ich für sie mehr und mehr zu einer merkwürdigen Malerin, die nur eine weiße Wand malte anstatt eines der berühmten Werke. Egal, ich malte weiter und fragte mich, wer die Idee gehabt hatte, dieses wunderbare kleine dunkle Gemälde an so eine weiße, weiß und weiße Wand zu hängen. Der winzige Schimmer Licht wurde von dem vielen Weiß einfach verschluckt und ich fühlte mich bemüßigt, ihn zu bekräftigen. O:-)
Plötzlich, kam ein Herr in Blau (wahrscheinlich der Chef aller anderen) und fragte mich, ob ich die Vorschriften fürs Malen im Albertinum (nicht nass zu malen) kennen würde. Ich antwortete ihm, dass die Kollegin in der Garderobe mir erlaubt hatte, alle meine Sachen mitzunehmen. Er wollte wissen, ob meine Farben nur Wasserfarben seien. Ich bestätigte und begann mich immer mehr zu amüsieren, weil ich 6-7 Meter vom nächsten Werk entfernt saß. Letzten Endes ließ er mich weitermalen und ging. Also wird dies wohl das einzige im Albertinum gemalte Aquarell für Jahre sein.

Café Kreuzkamm, Dresden (sketch)

I'm sure you've already found out that I love cake and traditional cafes. So, we were happy to find "Café Kreutzkamm" in Dresden.

Ich bin sicher, dass ihr schon herausgefunden habt, dass ich Kuchen und traditionelle Cafés liebe. Deshalb waren wir glücklich Café Kreutzkamm in Dresden zu finden.
