Course Work: Pencil - Bleistift - Still Life - Stillleben

The last Saturday in February I had a wonderful group of girls who were very willing to manage pencil still lifes and they learnt a lot. O:-)

Am letzten Samstag im Februar hatte ich eine tolle Gruppe Damen, die alle sehr ambitioniert an Bleistift-Stillleben arbeiteten und sie haben viel gelernt. O:-)

Sometimes you just need a little help of a piece of colored cardbord to change the background...

Manchmal braucht man nur ein kleines bisschen Hilfe eines Bogens farbigen Papiers, um den Hintergrund zu verändern...

German Cake: Frankfurter Kranz

It was quite fun not just to paint this piece of delicious and rich cake with butter cream, sponge mixture and chopped and caramelized nuts, but also eat to eat it after painting and to find a quite funny translation for this traditional German cake: ring-shaped, layered cake with cream filling. It's actually called Frankfurt ring. It's originally from Frankfurt/Main Germany, probably from the 18th century, and the whole cake shall show a crown. The nuts are the gold and the cherry on top of each piece symbolizes a ruby. The cake is a kind of reminder for Frankfurt as a place for crowning.

Es war nicht nur schön, das Stück des leckeren, gehaltvollen Kuchens mit Buttercreme, Biscuitteig und Krokant zu malen, sondern auch ihn nach dem Malen zu essen und eine amüsante Übersetzung für diesen traditionellen deutschen Kuchen zu finden: ring-shaped, layered cake with cream filling. Er kommt tatsächlich aus Frankfurt am Main, wahrscheinlich aus dem 18. Jahrhundert, und der ganze Kuchen soll eine Krone darstellen. Das Krokant ist das Gold und die Kirsche auf der Spitzen des Stücks symbolisiert einen Rubin. Der Kuchen ist eine Art Erinnerung dafür, dass Frankfurt einst ein Krönungsrort war.

Diese letzte Wand ist ein bisschen größer und frei für mehr als zwei Bilder, die nicht nur für meine Küche sind, sondern zum Verkauf stehen O:-) Es ist toll, das Arrangement von Zeit zu Zeit zu verändern...

3 Lemons - 3 Zitronen

Lemons are very interesting because of their colours and the texture. If you don't take just one for a painting, it's easier as there will be at least one that shows on of the special features that makes one of these great fruit O:-)

Zitronen sind sehr interessant wegen ihrer Farben und ihrer Textur. Wenn man nicht nur eine für ein Gemälde nutzt, ist es einfacher, weil zumindest eine davon dabei sein wird, die eine der besonderen Merkmale dieser tollen Früchte zeigt. O:-)
