Listening to Essaouira - Essaouira zuhören

I found this delicate thing on the beach of Essaouira, Morocco. I've never seen these kind of mussels before what makes them even more special. It feels so good to take little treasures home from a place where you've never been before and you're sure you would like to come back some time, doesn't it?

Keeping such small pieces from wonderful places has brought me to a big collection of treasures. However, I collect more than I paint... I should change that!

Ich fand dieses zierliche Ding am Strand von Essaouira, Marokko. Solch eine Art Muschel hatte ich bisher noch nie gesehen, und das macht sie so besonders. Es fühlt sich so gut an, kleine Schätze von einem Ort mit nach Hause zu bringen, an dem man vorher noch nie war und wohin du gern irgendwann zurückkehren möchtest, nicht wahr?

Solche kleinen Dinge von solch wunderbaren Plätzen zu behalten hat mir eine große Sammlung von Schätzen eingebracht. Allerdings sammle ich mehr als ich male... das sollte ich ändern.

Camels relaxing on Essaouira Beach - Relaxende Kamele am Strand von Essaouira

Finally... I guess you've seen them already in different kinds of progress stages. Camels are fun to paint when you've found out how they mouths look like.

Endlich... Ich nehme an, ihr habt sie schon in unterschiedlichen Stadien gesehen. Kamele sind toll zu malen, wenn man herausgefunden hat, wie ihre Schnauzen wirklich aussehen.

Remains of a Fort... - Rest einer Festung...

...near Mogador / Essaouira, Morocco. There are a lot of people walking to this place on the left side of the Mogador Bay. Some tourists are just lazy and ride on guided camels. When there's high tide these walls are in the sea. So, I had to work fast and it was so sweet to see a young couple climbing onto the walls and posing for me. When they came to me, there were really disappointed that they weren't on the painting O;-)

...in der Nähe von Mogador / Essaouira, Marokko. Viele Menschen wandern über den Strand zu diesem Platz auf der linken Seite der Mogador-Bucht. Einige Touristen sind einfach nur faul und reiten auf geführten Kamelen. Wenn flut ist, stehen diese Mauern im Wasser. Also musste ich schnell arbeiten, und es war so süß ein junges Paar zu beobachten, die auf die Mauern geklettert waren, wie sie für mich posierten. Als sie zu mir kamen, waren sie wirklich enttäuscht, dass sie nicht auf dem Gemälde waren O;-)

Still far but home again - Noch weit weg, aber wieder zu Hause

I took a time out in the beginning of January. Now I'm back from Essaouira, Morocco, but still feel far being in the sun, bare feet in the sea, walking through the souks, taking a break here and there, smelling all the spices and seeing all the colors, especially the bright blues from the doors and the sky, the reds from the carpets and the whites from the walls...

Ich nahm mir Anfang Januar eine Auszeit. Nun bin ich zurück aus Essaouira, Marokko, aber ich komme mir immer noch weit weg vor... in der Sonne, barfüßig im Meer, durch die Souks wandelnd, hier und da eine Pause machend, die ganzen Gewürze schnuppernd und die ganzen Farben betrachtend, besonders die leuchtenden Blaus der Türen und des Himmels, die Rots der Teppiche und das Weißtöne der Mauern...

Cat in the Passageway - Katze im Gang

Cats are all around Marrakech. We mostly found this one in the passageway between the riad and the lively street.

Katzen sind überall in Marrakesch. Meistens fanden wir diese im Gang zwischen dem Riad und der lebendigen Straße.

Door at Menara - Tür bei Menara

The Menara Garden is a big area full of olive treas with a special watering system. In the middle there is a huge basin with some fish always waiting for food and an old house with a balcony facing the basin. There are not just this door and the wall I find quite interesting, but I like their history you can just see when nobody cleans or mends it O:-)

Der Menara-Garte ist ein großes Gebiet voller Olivenbäume mit einem besonderen Bewässerungssystem. In der Mitte ist ein großes Wasserbecken mit Fischen, die immer auf Futter warten und ein altes Haus mit Balkon, der auf das Becken hinausgeht. Dort gibt es nicht nur die Tür und die Wand, die ich interessant finde, aber ich mag ihre Geschichte, die man nur sehen kann, wenn niemand sie säubert oder ausbessert. O:-)
