Remains of a Fort... - Rest einer Festung...

...near Mogador / Essaouira, Morocco. There are a lot of people walking to this place on the left side of the Mogador Bay. Some tourists are just lazy and ride on guided camels. When there's high tide these walls are in the sea. So, I had to work fast and it was so sweet to see a young couple climbing onto the walls and posing for me. When they came to me, there were really disappointed that they weren't on the painting O;-)

...in der Nähe von Mogador / Essaouira, Marokko. Viele Menschen wandern über den Strand zu diesem Platz auf der linken Seite der Mogador-Bucht. Einige Touristen sind einfach nur faul und reiten auf geführten Kamelen. Wenn flut ist, stehen diese Mauern im Wasser. Also musste ich schnell arbeiten, und es war so süß ein junges Paar zu beobachten, die auf die Mauern geklettert waren, wie sie für mich posierten. Als sie zu mir kamen, waren sie wirklich enttäuscht, dass sie nicht auf dem Gemälde waren O;-)

The Monday Painters - Die Montagsmaler

I'm happy that this course has been running for 10 years now and it starts again next Monday at Alte Schule Falkenberg in Lilienthal from 6:30 to 8:30pm for 10 evenings. In the details it's said that it's just for acrylic and oil painters, but if you want to use a different media or draw, feel free to enrol and come by. We'd appreciate that...

Snow Remains on the Beach - Schneereste am Strand

She's very flexible in her choice of medium. So, mostly her works become mixed media.

Sie ist sehr flexibel in ihrer Wahl des Mediums. Deshalb sind die meisten ihrer Werke in Mischtechnik.

Sea on the Beach - See am Strand

When I started this, I actually stood in the sea - in rubber boots. I'd bought a paint board that is like a sales tray. You just put a belt over one shoulder. So, you can stand while painting without using an easel. However, it wasn't easy to paint standing in the water while the sand was slowly clinging to the boots... Later at our nice holiday cottage I added some pastels, again.

Als ich dieses begann, stand ich tatsächlich im Meer - in Gummistiefeln. Ich hatte mir ein Malbord gekauft, dass wie ein Bauchladen. Du hängst dir nur einen Gurt über die Schulter. So kann man während des Malens stehen ohne eine Staffelei zu benutzen. Jedoch war es nicht so einfach im Wasser stehend zu malen, während der Sand sich langsam an den Gummistiefeln festgesaugt hat... Später im Ferienhaus habe ich wieder Pastell hinzugefügt.

Bank on the Dune 2 - Bank auf der Düne 2

This time I saw it at sunny midday /early afternoon and started it on watercolour paper as watercolour. But later I added pastels. 

Dieses Mal sah ich sie am sonnigen Mittag/frühen Nachmittag und begann auf Aquarell papier mit Aquarellfarben. Aber später fügte ich Pastelle hinzu.

I can see this simple bank from the kitchen and the first floor. I've taken "thousands" of photos of it. Perhaps I should actually do a series of it...

Ich kann diese einfache Bank von der Küche oder vom ersten Stock aus sehen. Ich habe "tausende" von Fotos von ihr geschossen. Vielleicht sollte ich tatsächlich eine Serie davon machen...

Mum's Flowerpot - Mamas Blumentopf

I spent some hours at my parents' house all alone. After making tea and opening the balcony door, I observed the playing breeze in the only flowerpot with one of my favourite summer flowers: the Black-eyed Susan. I don't know its name in Englisch. So, I just translated it into English.

Ich habe einige Stunden im Haus meiner Eltern verbracht, ganz allein. Nachdem ich Tee gekocht und die Balkontür geöffnet hatte, beobachtete ich einzigen Blumentopf, in dem eine Brise spielte. Darin steht eine meiner Lieblingssommerblumen: die Schwarzäugige Susanne.

Hainich Woods 2 (in progress)

After having a look at the masses of photos I decided to do at least one more painting of woods, maybe more. I started with an acrylic lemon yellow/Titanium white background. This time I'm going to listen to Caroline Simmill and use glazes of oil. For that reason the first layers are very pale. Now I have to wait until they have dried.

Nachdem ich mir die vielen Fotos angeschaut habe, entschied ich mich, mindestens ein weiteres Bild des Waldes zu malen. Ich begann mit einem Hintergrund aus zitronengelben und titanweißen Acrylfarben. Dieses Mal habe ich vor, auf Caroline Simmill zu hören und Lasierungen von Ölfarben zu benutzen. Deshalb sind die ersten Schichten so hell. Nun muss ich warten, bis sie getrocknet sind.

Little Owl - Steinkauz

The view of this little owl could be interpreted in many different ways: I'm not sure if it is just attentive, sad, worried or sympathetic. I saw it again in the birdpark Walsrode.

Der Blick dieses kleinen Steinkauzes könnte auf viele Arten interpretiert werden: Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob er nur aufmerksam, traurig, ängstlich oder mitfühlend ist. Ich sah ihn wieder im Vogelpark Walsrode.

Splendida Roof - Splendida-Dach

Yeah, also this place has got Wi-Fi. So, I can post my first sketches from the nice place of the "Siddharta Bar" at the Quinta Splendida on Madeira. This is one of the views I've got when I just step outside on our terrace.

Yeah, auch dieser Ort hat W-Land. Also, kann ich meine ersten Skizzen von diesem schönen Platz an der "Siddharta Bar" des Quinta Splendida auf Madeira. Dies ist der Blick, den ich habe, wenn ich einfach einen Schritt nach draußen auf die Terrasse mache.
